We designed the poster for the Retro Bukasai summer festival, an annual celebration—a cultural block party—in Kameido, a historic district in Tokyo, Japan. The poster featured a graphic pattern inspired by a Kame, or turtle shell and the Kanji serif font was customized with a shape suggested by a turtle.

Residents and business owners in the district took the initiative to paper their storefronts and facades with the poster, creating a festive, subtle branding for the event and the district as a whole.
